What a year!
It's been a long time since I have had the time to update. It's 2011 and the year is half over. It has been fill with many exciting events.
Lets start with Kim and James Pitts and their beautiful wedding in April. James is the only son of Jimmy Pitts SR., Don's cousin. Kim did a beautiful job of planning.
Next is the wedding of our Daughter Shasta to Jerod Decker. It was very beautiful and the reception was a blast. The DJ's were AJ Balser and Nathan Wainscott. They are awsome! We danced for over four hours. Jerods friends from college all made the wedding. His family is from Hartford City. Shasta is very lucky to have Jerod in her and the girls lives. He is great with the girls and they need a father figure. They have a little boy due in August.
Our next wedding was our nephew Matt to Brittney Sizelove. A very beautiful young lady and a very hard worker. Matt is the son of Steve and Cathy, Don's brother. Matt works as a police officer. The wedding was beautiful and she did a great job with her preperation. Everything was held at the Edgewood Country club, who also did the catering. They are spending their Honeymoon in Hawaii.
This year we will again be the Park Hosts for Brown County State Park. Last year was our first time to be here and it was an amazing summer. We meet families from all over the US and from other countries. We learned how much it takes to keep the park running and all the work involved keeping it nice for the visitors and campers.
Our time started on May 1st. and ends November 6th. Our first holiday weekend was Memorial Day. We had several of the grandchildren with us camping. They love the trails and visiting the Nature Center. They get Uncle Riley to take them out on all the trails and sometimes off the trails. June was filled with several storms and we ended up with a tree on our camper. The roof was patched until the season is over. We were very lucky it wasn't worse then it was. Some campers had trees go through the sides and bust out windows. We feel very fortunite!
Megan, Scot, Conner and Autumn come down every Thursday and we all go swimming and cook on the campfire. Sometimes we hit one of the great places to eat in Nashville.
Nashville has some awesome fireworks for the 4th. This year they were delayed one day because of a storm. Megan, Scot, Conner, Autumn, Riley, Akilah and Little Rylie were here for the 4th. We really enjoy having them here.
This year so far we have had two: Rylie and Autumn break bones riding scooters on the same hill, in the same spot. We had to off limit scooters for the rest of the summer.
Kevin and Shannon spent the week with us and we were constantly on the go. Swimming, panning for gems and fossils, riding bikes, hiking. It was a busy week. The heat didn't slow them down any until the last day and they decided it was even to hot to swim. We played cards and farkle and even got some PSP time in. I even have my own PSP. I love Toomb Rader! Grammy tries to stay with it!
This week we will have eight of them for five days. It is Smokey's Birthday and it is a fun filled time. MC and the Axes will be putting on a concert Saturday night. We will hit the pool every day and of course there is Smokey's Birthday Party.
Well, this is a quick catchup. Will try to do better in the future. Have a great summer, school is just around the corner.

New Beginnings
Sorry for the slow updates. It has been very busy with all the happenings. On Dec. 7th Don had his first surgery. They found and repaired everything. Now he just has to wait and do his therapy. The doctor said it takes six months to a year to heal completely, but he can have the other shoulder done before that. He is looking a about two years for the entire process. He has been a good boy when it comes to the exercises he has to do.
Christmas is always a busy time for everyone. We enjoyed our celebration with all the children (except Brianna & Khloee) on Dec. 13th this year. This gives the kids a chance to visit everyone during the holiday season. Lots of goodies to eat and great gifts. I'm one of the big kids I love my PSP! I can't get enough Tomb Raider! Santa was very good to Don and I, but more important is the quality time with everyone. With twelve Grandchildren there is never a dull moment.
Christmas Day we had company come from out of town. Jane and Dc spent the weekend and we had our Guthrie family breakfast with Great Grandma Alberta.
New Years Eve we celebrated with some friends-dinner and cards. Oh, you can't forget Dick Clark, it wouldn't be the same with out watching him at midnight. New Years Day we have everyone over for traditional cornbeef and cabbage and other good stuff for those who won't eat their cabbage.
We hope this year will be better then last and that Brianna and Khloee are back soon where they belong. They have been greatly missed and we love them both!!!

They all dressed up this year and what a variety they were. From Michael Jackson to the Tooth Fairy!
You will have to bare with me this blog is a new thing for me and I can"t seem to get my pics in the right order. I guess I could blame it on old age!!
This is their finished products. They all did a very good job at carving out their pumpkins. We were short three girls Brianna, Khloee and Shy weren't able to go this year. DJ was able to come later for all the fun. I've been doing the October camping trip for several years and the last three we have had all our grandchildren share it with us. The Park has several events for the kids on the weekend before HALLOWEEN. Hayrides, pumpkin carving, scary trails, and yes they trick or treat in the campground. The parents also get in on the fun, they have a HALLOWEEN decorating contest for us and the winner gets a free camping weekend at the state park. I bet you thought it was candy!! Several Hamilton Co. Sheriffs bring their families and they always have a great spook house set up. It always a great time for everyone.Wednesday, November 4, 2009
